Elections 2018

It seems obvious to me that Americans LOVE a good fight-they live to disagree.

Our whole comedy style is based on misunderstanding, fighting and making up-watch any episode of I love Lucy.

The last presidential election horrified me-less for the fact that a person won who had no qualifications for such an important job but more for the divisive nature of the event and how angry people were.

So many friendships ended over the choice of who to support and who to vote for-its obvious that people lied and said they voted for one and actually voted for the other,

If we learned anything from that embarrassment its that we need to rid ourselves of the electoral college-Donald Trump did NOT win the popular vote he won the electoral vote count-interesting that this has happened before usually to the benefit of Republicans.

No one had any sense of just how angry the American voters were and how much certain flash points would carry voters to vote in an atypical way-also they didn't understand how much the women of this country hated Hillary Clinton.

Regardless, we now have a country that doesn't know what to do-the POTUS is an embarrassing buffoon, the vice president is an extreme right wing religious nut so better to keep the BUFFOON rather than impeach and get the theocracy monger.

I suspect that if the vote goes in such a way as to have a solid democratic house they will subpoena the Tax Returns which Trump so vehemently does not want seen and that could be the start of a change of leadership.

Had we had a system where Bernie Sanders could have been elected I am fairly sure he would have taken the election-we need a Libertarian and even a Socialist voting party-what other major company or organization makes decisions with 2 votes? Where is the tie breaker?

Above all we have come to a critical juncture in the history of this planet-we must have a leader who says ENOUGH-enough fighting and grabbing and competing-we need to join with other major powers and find a sane, logical path towards social, economic and global stability.

In the next 100 years we will be facing rising water levels, contamination of our groundwater by encroaching Salt water, pollution not only of the air but of the land in general die to pesticides, industrial waste and a glut of trash from stuff we don't need but continue to make.

The job market will become a bigger issue every year as machines, computers and robotics replace humans in the work place.

The United States which used to be a major player in the production of goods is now pretty much a service based organization-countries that used to have economies based on minerals, wood or fishing now are changing to tourism-if people don't have jobs how do they afford travel and leisure?

We still have not settled issues of colour and sexuality-its ridiculous that we can't manage to get along with someone whose skin color or bedroom choices are different - we need to strongly support a separation of church and state-the founders of this country saw that this was an important concept but now we face rising numbers of non Judeo-Christian religious zealots-what do we do with a United States that is 40 or 50 percent Muslim?

Other countries are already facing the rising tides of alternate voice demanding things like Shariah law and courts.

If you haven't educated yourself on this you might want to spend some time or one day when the beading starts and hands are being cut off on prime time television that arguments over lethal injections will seem silly .

People are terrified of one world government-what is the alternate?

An isolationist United States will not have any more power than we do today-probably less-we need a governing board that addresses the issues that affect all the peoples of the world, food, illness, poverty, housing, climate-it can't be done by one country alone.

In my lifetime I have watched America and other ally countries change radically-the air looks cleaner but isn't, radiation has become a silent issue that no one wants to talk about-here in California where water is a major issue they keep building more and more houses and apartments.

Where are the young people? In my glory days we were out demonstrating for better environments and civil rights-the only people I see demonstrating nowadays are immigrants and unions.

Countries have become more corrupt than ever before-I think if people truly investigated what is going on her in America they would be outraged.

The billions of dollars that are channeled into Black Ops projects and pork belly financing are a disgrace and who benefits> Certainly not the people.

Travel across this country and look at the beautiful, state of the art roadways through picturesque landscapes that have effectively killed the small towns and their economies.

I hate to pick on WalMart especially since *in a way) they are keeping the small town consumer going-but over and over driving across america one travels through quaint small towns that are basically ghost towns and right outside the city limits is a huge Walmart and probably a McDonalds.

Big Box stores like Living Spaces, Home Goods, Kohls etc have killed the gift shops, craft store and other mom and pop establishments that used to add charm and colour to our main streets and villages.

What does it say when we go to Italy or Paris and buy souvenirs made in China?

It's time to rethink what we are willing to put up with and take back some of our power before it's too late.

I remember when Christmas was magic and the period from Halloween thru Thanksgiving to New Years was the best time of the year-now its about greed and anxiety and spending too much money and political correctness-its ridiculous.

Let's hope that one day soon we can all come together and make things good again.

I see the tread to get off this planet and go elsewhere-I would think that was exciting except I know that humans aren't ready to do it correctly and it will become an exercise in greed, corruption and power.

How the HELL did we get HERE???

2020 - it's already November, where did this year go? I have been busy campaigning against the right wing on Facebook-I forgot I have a...
